Motto (96)

I was walking home one night and somehow, I ended up thinking of a few ideologies of my own that I've held secret for a few years. I'm pretty sure I'm not  the only person with my own little "constitution" in my head. Well anyway, here's some of them. I know I can't possibly explain every single little thing so I chose a few to write about.

"Live through understanding"
People don't always share the same experiences or influences. Their outlook in life may be completely different than yours. And then, you ask yourself why you find an interest in this person. The answer may be simpler than you'd expect: Because they are not you. They see the world differently and understanding things from a different point of view. And this sparks intellectual stimulation.

"Think alternatively"
Grr. I know the Steve Jobs quote "Think Different" but this is not the same. Or, at least the way it derived in my head was not the way Steve Jobs derived it. Maybe it's similar. I don't know. But anyway, to me, this means to think in a different manner than what is mostly associated with that topic. I mostly associate this with words, though. I get irritated during conversations when you hear the same words like "good deal" "cool story bro" "That's epic" "sweet" used over and over again. Gah! Isn't that annoying? Expand on your vocabulary and use different words to convey the same (or similar) meanings. You'll sound a bit more sophisticated and give off a better impression... but don't overdo it. Basically, don't be boring XD

"You are what you pretend to be"
You know, to be honest, this comes from a quote from the film "Schizopolis" (Righteous comedy film, btw). The film dwells on the topic of Eventualism... which apparently isn't defined anywhere on the internet T__T. The best definition I can come up with is to look at an idea and think of its eventual value rather than its immediate value. So... say you are in a situation and think of how you are feeling at that particular moment. Then later on, think back to that same moment. Is the feeling the same? Well, eventualism is concerned with the aftereffects of the situation rather than the current effects. Do you understand?

Okay, back to the quote. You are what you pretend to be. This little quote stuck onto me because its similar to "ends justify the means." We, as people, tend to have all sorts of ideas in our heads. But, to others, these thoughts don't really mean anything. People can think whatever they want, but those thoughts or ideas won't hold any meaning in real life unless we exercise those beliefs. People see what you do, not what you think. And they judge on that. Period.

"Friends remind each other of things"
This is now a basic rule in friendships for me. I can't believe that friendships can be lost over something stupid as forgetting things. Seriously. While it may seem annoying for a friend to keep pestering you over an event or activity, you may find yourself thanking them later for it. Friends remind friends because they care. That's it. They want to be sure you are committing yourself because, to them, you are of value. So why would you deny them of that right?

That is all for now. Stay frosty.

Name Game (95)

Someone mentioned to me that I HAVE to blog about what I did today. I told this person that at the time, I had not done anything important so I would decide to write much later in the day. Well, 5am seems like a good time to write, right?

Heh, so today was the last day of classes. I mean, I still have finals to worry about next week, but I'm not too worried about that. The day started out terrific! I had to take a test in the AM. I probably should have studied, but I was overpowered by the urge to play Terraria yesterday. To my surprise, I didn't need to study. The questions on the test were pretty straight forward and I guess I remembered the material from class pretty well.

Fast forward to about 8pm... no, 11pm... um, the part where I decided to finally start Skyward Sword and play the game after drinking some ______ Vanilla Coke. Yeah, that. Well... now that I think about it, there's not much to say actually.

Just kidding! The game is great. The controls took a while to get used to, but now they actually make sense. I named the character Elbert because, apparently, people don't like naming their children Elbert. I was rather glad that I had company to watch me fail miserably at piloting my spirit animal. After playing the game for a few hours, I finally got to the first dungeon. I was thrilled for a second and then I realized that everyone else had fallen asleep.

I should sleep too.

Cedar Point (94)

(This is a long one..... and two weeks late)

Alright! Let's talk about my trip to Cedar Point with Jacob, Kaitlin, and Rachel! Oh, in case you didn't know, Jacob, Kaitlin, and Rachel are some friends from Elkhart. We were friends in high school... sort of... we became better friends later on in life... like when it actually mattered...  :)

So let's talk about the car ride first. It wasn't spectacular or anything, but it was awesome because we made jokes on the white board which featured very rude remarks that I probably shouldn't mention. We even had our own mixtape (made from my itunes... so it wasn't all that epic, really) to go along with our ride. Damnit, I wish I still remembered some of the remarks we made. We even hung them out for a few days too (for the whole world to see).

Once we got to our destination (and past that long road to get to our parking spot), we went into the hotel to check in, but to our dismay, we had to wait until 4pm to check in (rules are rules). So, we decided to buy our tickets for Cedar Point and go on ahead and spend our day there (Two day passes for both the theme park and water park FTW!).

Alright, I think this will be easier if I split this into two days instead of saying yeah, I did this the day after.

DAY ONE:
We go in (I'm like DAMN!). Seriously, I probably should mention that I've never been to Cedar Point so you can bet I was a little scared when I saw first hand how tall the roller coaster rides were. Kaitlin, Jacob, and Rachel were probably like "Sweet! Let's get on some rides!" (like they do this every day). But then I remembered all of those times I've been to Six Flags and how none of the rides were scary once you actually got on them (except for Deja Vu. O___O Damn that ride....).

I don't remember the order of the rides we got on or the names of them. I have a horrible memory. All I can remember was there being a line for everything and us going like "yay let's move on." We actually went on more rides the first day then in DAY TWO... aww damnit, I did it didn't I? (sequence break) Okay, so let's go back to talking about the first day... -_-;

We went to eat in this awesome all-you-can eat buffet inside the park. I totally recommend going here if you can find it (my lack of directions ^^;). It's seriously cheaper and more satisfying than anywhere else in the park (I promise...). We all went crazy with our food getting nachos and pizza and ice cream and hamburgers and spaghetti and tacos and you get the idea. SO MUCH FOOD! We stuffed ourselves so we felt like we had to go by that 30 minute rule before getting on a ride or else you puke rule. We decided to go into an arcade while we waited for our stomachs to settle down.

At the arcade, we somehow got the idea to attempt to get as many tickets as possible (5 dollars each. GO!). And that's how you have fun at arcades, I guess, but damn, we sucked. We played all of those lame games where you toss your tokens and hope you get lucky. In the end, we ended up getting enough tickets for a Jenga (type kind of...) game, two shot glasses, and some noisemakers. I think the only significant thing off that list was the Jenga type game which we later played...
EDIT: I also played Crazy Taxi at the arcade. I don't remember how much I spent on that game, but man that game is amazing! If you've never played Crazy Taxi, it's like a combination of road rage and silly music (with the secondary objective of driving people to their designated locations within a time limit).

So after a few more rides, we go back to the hotel to (finally) check in. We get to our rooms and find the nice cool air very appealing. Since we were outside in the sun for so long, we felt like we needed a break so we sat around for a little while. Or at least that's what Rachel, Jacob, and Kaitlin did. I passed out. I actually woke up two hours later alone in my room.
EDIT: Funny thing was that as soon as I collapsed on the bed, Jacob later mentioned that I unconsciously got under the blankets and positioned myself correctly while sleeping. That explains why I woke up all tucked in while remembering that I had collapsed on the bed on top of the sheets.

That made me kind of confused for a while. I went to the girls' room to knock to see if they were there and after about 4 tries, I gave up and thought that they were either sleeping or they ditched me to go back to Cedar Point. I didn't complain though. I wanted to get on the internet and (hopefully) blog about our time at Cedar Point. Turns out that didn't happen (that's why I'm sitting here like two weeks later writing this down). Yeah. The internet was terrible and after about 20 minutes of trying to load up my homepage, I gave up T^T. After that failure, I decided to read a chapter of this book I'm currently reading, A Clockwork Orange.

At like around 8pm, I finally decided to go back to Cedar Point (whether the rest of the group was there or not, didn't care at this point). I later found out that they went to the water park without me so that's why I couldn't find them at the theme park. Oh well. I got on some pretty sweet rides including the Top Thrill Dragster! The lines weren't as big either so I didn't have to wait too long by myself.

After my own little fun, I went back to the hotel room where the rest of the group was waiting. I remember trying to get them to watch a movie with me, but they were way more exhausted than me because they went to the water park and the fact that they didn't have a two hour nap like me. I sat around in my room playing PC games before caving in sometime past midnight. And so day one ends...

DAY TWO:
We woke tired on Day Two. All that fun on the previous day wore us out. But I think we somehow made the most out of it. The first thing we had to do when we got up was check out of our rooms as we were getting a new one later that day (a better one). And again, same rule applied T__T. Check in starts at 4pm. What a load of bollocks.

We did go back to the theme park to get on more rides, but the number of rides we got on was significantly less. After a while, we decided to go to the water park. I was the stupid one and forgot to put on my swimming trunks earlier so I had to go back to Kaitlin's car to change. I have to admit, I was taking my sweet ass time while Kaitlin and Rachel were baking in the sun. I remember that I kept forgetting things and had to keep running back to the car for something. First time, I forgot my wallet. Second time. I forgot to lock the car. Third time. I decided to go back to get a Vault so that I could drink it on the way back to Cedar Point. That was a good drink. And now we head to the water park....

The water park was pretty generic. Not much different than most other water parks I've been to. Our first ride (or watery equivalent of a ride) that we went on was the Lazy River (?), or at least I think that's what it was called. All we did during that ride was lay back and catch some ZZZZZzzzzz's. We were probably on that river for about an hour before deciding to go elsewhere in the water park.

Most other water rides were meh. They weren't all that special except for one of them which was the one where Rachel, Jacob, Kaitlin, and myself got on a floaty and went down a water slide. I don't remember the details, but man... that ride was intense. It wasn't the "OMGI'MGOINGTODIE!!" kind of feeling. It was the "SHITWEGONNAFLIPOVER!!" kind of feeling. We managed to prevent ourselves from flipping over, but there was too much hype over it that I think it would have been more hilarious if we actually did flip over.

So what's next? Oh yeah, the part where we bake ourselves... We went over to the tidal wave pool area places (whatever you wanna call it) too cool off after the hotness and the windiness... and the excitement. I got into the pool with Rachel as Jacob and Kaitlin decided to dry off in the sun. Me and Rachel didn't do much in the pool. We each managed to steal a floaty and ride the waves which was fun for about 10 minutes. I don't remember what me and Rachel talked about in the pool, but I remember us laughing our heads off. Or maybe that was just me laughing at those little kids who didn't know how to swim...  Well, anyways... after we got bored in the pool, Rachel and I went to look for Jacob and Kaitlin (damn our blindness). Jacob and Kaitlin were laying down right next to the pool so we decided to join them for a while. This is the part where we got sunburned [insert pictures of our skins peeling off after this even though they don't exist]. We got lazy again and laid around for quite too long.

We went back to the same buffet and later on went to T.G.I. Fridays. I'm just mentioning those here because I don't remember the order of things anymore. I seriously don't. The next thing I remember is us being in our new hotel room and debating whether or not we should go into the hotel's pool. Only me and Rachel ended up going because the other two were too tired. This is the part where Rachel was being a wimpy kid (that's right Rachel, I'm calling you out XD) because she didn't want to get in the pool because it was too cold for her. It took Rachel probably 3-4 minutes to get her whole body into the pool. There was an awkward moment because once she got into the pool, we didn't know what to do, so we decided to go into the jacuzzi instead. That was also awkward (Man, we're so lame). After about 20 minutes of us trying to decide on what to do, Rachel and I decided to go back to Cedar Point to get on some big ass rides. This is the part where I texted Jacob something like "see ya later, bitch," (as in we're ditching you, bitch) only to realize that Rachel and I had to get back into the hotel room (where Jake was) to change because we were both wet.

Changed and ready, Rachel and I went back to Cedar Point and got on some big ass rides. Kaitlin and Jacob should have come too. There were no lines anymore since it was like 9pm and the park closes at 10pm. Me and Rachel rode on a couple of roller coasters with only us two on them. It was awesome except for this one ride (Mine Ride) which caused some damage with every turn (ouch my lower back). I remember us getting on the Skyhawk three times in a row because there were no lines. But our fun had to end when the park closed and we headed back to the hotel with bugs in our hair from the night air (I don't know about Rachel, but I sure had some shit up there).

Our last little night was pretty sweet. Kaitlin ordered a double cheese, double pepperoni pizza for us to eat while we watched TV and talked about random silly things. Funny thing was that that same guy who delivered pizza to us had been delivering pizza around the hotel for quite some time now. We saw him in the lobby earlier and he recognized me when I answered the door.We all played Jenga too. I don't remember if that was before, after, or during the pizza, but we played it sometime that night.

So that concludes everything I remember about the Cedar Point trip at this point. I really enjoyed this trip just as much as I enjoyed Acen. It kinda sucks that I don't get to hang out with the buddies I made after high school (in Elkhart) or during the Japan trip a couple of years ago. Sometimes I think back and wonder what it would be like if we hung out more often...

What now? (93)

I actually meant to write in this blog yesterday, but I felt that the topic was more appropriate for the other blog that I write in called The Little Things. It's a little blog I made to talk about the little things in life that aren't supposed to matter, but make the days a little more interesting. So what have I been doing these past couple of days? Well, read on!

I guess I can start when I came back home to Elkhart with my parents which is where my summer vacation officially started (I was taking summer classes until June 18th). On the first day back, I was invited to go to Erin's Graduation/birthday party. Oh, in case you didn't know, Erin is my cousin's girlfriend. Weird, huh? Me hanging out with someone else's girlfriend.... =3   Unfortunately for me, I wasn't done with my papers from my Japanese Culture class (I begged the teacher to give me an extra day) so I had to write them while people around me were having fun. Hmmm, I guess they weren't having much fun anyways since the laser tag hadn't started yet... but yeah, there was laser tag, and I was a part of that. Pew pew. (Erin's dad told me to go in there and take a break from my homework. I took his advice and blasted him XD)

I went to another grad party the next day and saw a lot of familiar faces (and a lot of new faces). I didn't have too much fun though, because I was tired as hell from pulling a few all nighters in a row in order to get all of my summer schoolwork done.::sigh:: The only true highlight was me playing Speed against my brother. I can't believe that we are almost equal at that game.

The next big happening was.... CEDAR POINT! Ha! Maybe I'll talk about that tomorrow.... err next post.

My Little Break (92)

"Did you get more wood?"
"Aw yeah!"

Don't worry if you don't understand that. It's a running gag that a few of my friends and I have. (From Pokemon Christmas Bash CD). Well, anyways.... I wake up today at around 11am, go to the living room, look at the TV, and guess what I see? Pokemon. It just so happens that Cartoon Network is showing a 3 movie marathon of Pokemon (movies 10,11, and 12). Seeing as my house mates happen to be huge Pokemon nerds, they had to sit down and watch them. And of course seeing as I have nothing to do for a few hours, I sit down and watch as well.... And what the hell? They changed all of the voice actors! Every single one of them! Like, I couldn't even recognize who was talking. Oh, and the movies weren't all that interesting. Instead, I hung around the internet and played Mother 3.

Oh yeah. I beat Mother 3. That game was amazing! Really sad, though. I had to pause for a second when I found out who the last boss was. It's not like I saw it coming, but it wow'd me. The ending was a little weird for me too. The words END? came up and I was allowed to move it around. During that, I think I had a conversation with just about any character in the game who was mildly important. It was stuff like, "Thank you for playing, Abraham," "Well, I guess we saved the world, huh." "I really enjoyed our time together." "Thanks for everything." stuff like that which lasted for about 20 minutes or so. After that, all of the characters from the game showed up and walked around in a credits type of fashion. Then the real credits started....

Probably what would have been the highlight of my day is what happened later that day. I went to another local show at the VGR hoping to get my fix of music before I came back home to start my papers, but unfortunately, only half of the bands showed up . So the concert only lasted for about an hour which was really disappointing. I did, however, like the bands that played. Tianemmen Squared, Osteoferocious, and Support the Troopz. They will be remembered. If you like hardcore music, these bands are definitely worth checking out.

Alright, time to sleep. I have a long day tomorrow (sigh).

Luis's Graduation Party (91)

Yesterday, I went to my cousin Luis's Graduation Party. Actually, that's the whole reason I came back to Elkhart for a weekend. So that I could congratulate the dude who is going to graduate in June 6th. Congratulations, Luis Stephen Pineda!

Uh. Oh yeah, onto the party.... I imagined it would be a lot more... uh... lively. But whatever. There were tacos! Fuck yeah! For some reason, there aren't any good places in Muncie that serve good tacos, so I'm always sad. But then again, there's always the better subway alternative, The Pita Pit. At the party, I some familiar folks as well as my family once again. It was weird being back. I felt alienated from everyone else. It was that weird feeling of "hey, long time no see." But then again, there were little to no activities at the party which was unfitting considering that most of the people there were gamers and taggers so what was there to do besides converse?

I spent most of my time hanging around Jacob who probably also felt unfitting because he's been away in college for almost a year now. We both talked about our college experiences which were very different. He goes to a business college in Fort Wayne while I go to a university in Muncie. His classes are like high school while mine vary. After the party, he showed me two of his swords (one of them was almost as tall as me O_O).

The real party started when Luis finally decided to bring his Xbox so that us minions could kill each other in FPS games. Board games!? Who needs those, lol.

After a couple of "pew pews" later, it somehow turned late really fast and the party was over. Time to go home. Blah. I talked to Luis for a while in the car about a video game I'm playing as a beta tester, one character in particular (because I found him to be very hilarious). I was kind of shocked that Luis has never played a Dating Sim before. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm probably the only guy in my family as well as my circle of guy friends from college who have ever played a dating sim. Damnit.

P.S. Click on those links for inside jokes.

All out of bubble gum (90/90)

This post marks the last post of the "90 posts in 90 days writer's challenge." The title of this post is "All out of bubble gum" because this post is supposed to represent the "becoming of a whole" of this entire blog. I do plan on continuing this blog as a means of writing about personal matters since I have become aware of its importance. These past three months have been a very interesting experience.

I used my first post to reflect on how my writing has changed since the first day of the writer's challenge. Unlike my previous posts, my first post was really long. Probably because I had so much to talk about at the time. I was so much more personal back then. I described almost everything that happened during the day. But then after I started becoming aware as to who was reading my blog, I started leaving things out. Stuff that I didn't want the public to know to a full extent. I think that was one of my first weaknesses as a transitioned from a semi private based blogger to a I'm going to share this with my followers on Facebook and Twitter.

Before I go anywhere else with this post, I'd like to thank my fellow bloggers especially Sam and Kyle who inspired me to start this challenge. To be honest, a big part of what kept me going was knowing that you guys were there sharing the same obligations as I did. I think our writing styles influenced each other as well. I could sort of see that with the length of our entries at one point, but then we started going off different tangents, it seems. I think a big part of that had to do with the fact that we just didn't have time hang out quite as often toward the end of the schoolyear and the fact that our summers are completely different from each other's. A question for Sam and Kyle. How do you think our blogs compare and contrast? A question for the people. How would you go about writing your personal blog?

Above, I mentioned how I have become aware of this blog's importance in my life. The importance of this blog comes from giving me a chance to reflect and write about my experiences every day. To know that there was at least a little meaning behind every day has allowed me to have a more optimistic outlook on life. There were a few instances where I wanted to write something dreadful, something I would regret later on, but I didn't. I remember initially starting the blog saying to myself that I would not regret anything I posted. And I'm glad it stayed that way.

Now without further ado, I'd like to end the 90 in 90 saying, "I've came to kick ass and chew bubble gum... and now I'm all out of bubble gum."
